The Individual letters are indorsed with the names of the correspondents, dates of the letters, and in many cases, a note of the contents by Wodrow himself, [cf Robert Baillie, `Letters and Journals' (referred to hereafter as `Letters and Journals'), Bannatyne Club, Edinburgh, 184ff. 1-2, vol. III, note on p.275].

Letter (from Mr. David Dickson), unaddressed, announcing that cause of stumbling at course of kirk and state is due to twofold mistake: that (i) public resolution of Commission of kirk in answer to query of Parliament (for raising north parts of kingdom to relieve south from oppression by foreign enemy,) to be inconsistant with former declaration relating to malignants and contrary to Solemn Engagement (ii) if north rise in arms, it cannot lawfully fight against enemy, even for relief of kingdom and covenant. n.d.
