The Lothian Coal Company Limited was set up in 1860 by the 9th Marquis of Lothian and Archibald Hood who became Managing Director. Archibald Hood became Chairman of the company in 1900 on the death of the Marquis. In 1902 he was succeeded by his son, James Archibald Hood who in 1911 became Chairman. |
