The Benhar Coal Company took its name from the East and West Benhar coal mines near Harthill. It became the Niddrie and Benhar Coal Co. Ltd in 1881 when The Benhar Coal Company leased the Niddrie Colliery. It gave up its interest in Benhar in 1897 and concentrated in Midlothian. The chairman of the company was Dr RT Moore and Robert Ramsay was the General Manager. |
