A prospectus was issued in 1845 proposing a company to be formed to provide a line to connect Scottish Central, Edinburgh and Northern, Edinburgh and Perth, and Dundee and Perth Railways, between Newburgh and Bridge of Earn, but the company was never incorporated.
An agreement was arranged with the Edinburgh and Northern Railway in 1846 whereby that company undertook to make a line between similar points, and the Strathearn Junction Railway agreed to abandon their scheme.
The Edinburgh and Northern Railway obtained Parliamentary authority in 1846 to make a railway from Newburgh to the Scottish Central Railway at Hilton. |
