Incorporated under Act of 1848 (11 & 12 Vic. c.155).
The powers of this Act were unexercised by the company itself, but the railway was leased under the Act to the Glasgow Paisley Kilmarnock and Ayr Railway.
The Glasgow Paisley Kilmarnock and Ayr Railway was amalgamated with the Glasgow Dumfries and Carlisle Railway to form the Glasgow and South Western Railway as from 28 October 1850 under Act 10 & 11 Vic. c.183 (1847).
The Glasgow and South Western Railway was reconstituted under Consolidation Act of 26 June 1855.
The Glasgow and South Western Railway became part of the London Midland and Scottish Railway as from 1 January 1923 under the North Western, Midland and West Scottish Group Amalgamation Scheme 1922 dated 30 December 1922. |
