The North British Steam Packet Company was formed by the North British Railway between 1863 and 1866 following the passing of the North British Railway (Steamboats) Act (26 & 27 Vic. c.226) of 1863, for the operation of that Company's steamer services on the Clyde and from Silloth on the Solway.
In 1888 the North British Steam Packet Company absorbed the services of the Loch Lomond Steamboat Company.
The North British Railway took over control of the Clyde steamer services in 1902 under the powers of the North British Railway (Steam Vessels) Act of 22 July 1902, and of the Silloth services in 1919.
The North British Steam Packet Company was finally wound up in February 1920. |
