Incorporated under Act of 13 August 1836 as the Edinburgh Leith and Newhaven Railway. The name was changed in 1844 to Edinburgh Leith and Granton Railway (7 & 8 Vic. c.81).
The company was amalgamated under Act of 1847 (10 & 11 Vic. c. 239) with the Edinburgh and Northern Railway to form the Edinburgh Perth and Dundee Railway. This company was dissolved and re-incorporated by Act of 1849 and again dissolved and re-incorporated under Act of 1851 (14 & 15 Vic. c. 55).
The Edinburgh Perth and Dundee Railway was amalgamated with the North British Railway under Act of 29 July 1862.
The North British Railway became part of the London and North Eastern Railway as from 1 January 1923 under the North Eastern, Eastern and East Scottish Group Amalgamation Scheme 1922 dated 30 December 1922. |
