Under the Duke of Sutherland's Railway Act of 20 June 1870 the Duke was authorised to make and maintain the line therein referred to.
This undertaking was amalgamated with the Highland Railway as from 1 September 1884 under the Highland Railway (Northern Lines Amalgamation) Act of 28 July 1884.
The Highland Railway became part of the London Midland and Scottish Railway as from 1 January 1923 under the North Western, Midland and West Scottish Group Amalgamation Scheme 1922 dated 30 December 1922. |
