Incorporated under Act of 6 Will. IV. c.32 (1836).
The railway was authorised to be leased to the Dundee and Perth Railway from 1 May 1847 under Act of 12 Vic. c.154 (1848), although, in fact, no lease was ever executed and the lease authorisation was cancelled as from 9 March 1850 by Act of 13 & 14 Vic. c.39 (1850).
The Dundee and Arbroath Railway was vested in the Scottish North Eastern Railway from 31 January 1862 under Act 26 & 27 Vic. c.231 of 28 July 1863, and the Dundee and Arbroath Company was thereby dissolved.
The Dundee and Arbroath line subsequently became a joint interest of the Caledonian and North British Railways as from 1 February 1880 under the title "Dundee & Arbroath Joint Line Committee". (q.v.)
The Scottish North Eastern Railway was amalgamated with the Caledonian Railway as from 31 July 1866 under Act of 10 August 1866. |
