The Carlisle Langholm and Hawick Railway was an independent company formed locally in the district in 1857 for the construction of a line of railway from the Caledonian Railway at Mossband, in Cumberland, by Longtown, Canonbie and Langholm to Hawick, the Caledonian Railway to contribute to the capital and to work the line.
Bills were promoted in Parliament in the Sessions of 1857, 1858 and 1859 for powers to make the railway, but all these Bills were rejected. |
