Incorporated under Act of 1864 (27 & 28 Vic. c.286).
Under the City of Glasgow Union Railway Partition Act of 7 August 1896 the "South Western portion" of the railway was vested as from 1 August 1896 in the Glasgow and South Western Railway, and the "North British portion" was vested, as from the same date, in the North British Railway, such vestings being deemed to be amalgamations with the respective companies. The said 2 portions are defined in Section 3 of the Act.
The Glasgow and South Western Railway became part of the London Midland and Scottish Railway as from 1 January 1923 under the North Western, Midland and West Scottish Group Amalgamation Scheme 1922 dated 30 December 1922 and the North British Railway became part of the London and North Eastern Railway as from 1 January 1923 under the North Eastern, Eastern and East Scottish Group Amalgamation Scheme 1922 dated 30 December 1922. |
