Originally formed under powers given by Act of 1772 vesting control in the Town Council of Ayr and certain individuals constituted as Harbour Trustees.
The Ayr Harbour Trust was constituted under Act of 1855 (18 & 19 Vic. c.119) and re-constituted by Acts of 1893 and 1901.
The undertaking was vested in the Glasgow and South Western Railway under Act of 1919 as from 28 March 1919.
The Glasgow and South Western Railway became part of the London Midland and Scottish Railway as from 1 January 1923 under the North Western, Midland & West Scottish Group Amalgamation Scheme 1922 dated 30 December 1922. |
