Assignation by the Creditors of Alexander Chancellour of Shieldhill (viz: Charles Guthrie, writer in Edinburgh, Mrs. Robina Alston, relict of Alexander Birnie of Broomhill, John Hay, writer in Edinburgh, trustee for the creditors of the deceased Robert Menzies of Culterallers, W.S., Butter & Torry, merchants in Edinburgh, Captain James Hamilton (or Birnie) of Broomhill, Mrs. Bethia Birnie, relict of Dr. Charles Alstone, Professor of Botany in Edinburgh University, John McQueen of Braxfield, James Dalgleish, merchant in Queensferry, Thomas Noble, tenant in Longcoats, George Duncan, Comptroller of Stamp Duties for Scotland, in place of Pierr la Motte, dancing master in Edinburgh, George Tod, writer in Edinburgh, William Baillie, surgeon, John Black, merchant, John Ireland, wright, in place of Jean Jackson, William Telfer and George Bertram, merchants, all in Biggar, Cleghorn & Hotchkiss, brewer in Edinburgh, Miss Lilias Rattray, James Laidlaw, tenant in Ashiesteel, and Archibald Cochran, flesher in Musselburgh), Mr. John Thomson, minister at Walstoun, for the Kirk Session of the parish of Walstoun, and Mr. John Noble, minister at Libberton, for the Kirk Session of the parish of Libberton, whereby they assign and dispone to George Irving of Newton the respective sums due to them by the said Alexander Chancellour in order that he may cite Jean Birnie, relict of and executor confirmed to Chancellour and take any steps necessary to obtain payment of the debts due to them. Witnesses, Mr. Cornelius Elliot, W.S., Thomas Adair, his apprentice, George Jardine, apprentice, and William Charles Craigie and Hugh Rorison, clerks, to Samuel Mitchelson Junior, Clerk to the Signet, John Chancellor, Thomas Irving, James Gladstones, Adam Thomson, Robert Lourie, John Barr, John Gairdner, James Baillie and Lawrance Pillance.
A number of the creditors do not sign. The testing clause has not been completed. |
