Thomas Thomson, W.S. (1807-1877) devoted much of his time to historical and antiquarian research (see obituary in "Proceedings of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland" [PSAS], 1877]. This included research on the local history of Corstorphine and the Gogar area of Edinburgh, where he lived, and an interest in the genealogies of his own family, formerly tenants in Grange of Alloa, and others. The account of the parish of Corstorphine in the "New Statistical Account", 1845, was written by him. He also made a number of contributions to PSAS, including articles in the 1850s and 1860s on Edinburgh protocol books and Haddington burgh records. |
