The Scottish Seating and Wheelchair Group (SSWG) was a multidisciplinary organisation aiming to represent the entire spectrum of people involved in the provision and use of wheelchairs and seating within Scotland. Members included doctors; engineers; physiotherapists; occupational therapists; nurses; administration staff from wheelchair centres; representatives of companies selling wheelchairs and seating; researchers and academics working on developments of wheelchair technology; and wheelchair users and their carers. SSWG promoted and organised scientific and educational meetings to improve the knowledge and understanding of professionals and users of the wheelchair and seating services. At least two such events were held each year, collaborating with other organisations to promote national and international events. The organisation changed its name to the Scottish Posture and Mobility Network in 2005, and in 2013 it was dissolved with the remaining assets distributed to the Posture and Mobility Group based in England. |
