Scottish Omnibuses Ltd (SOL) was the successor company to Scottish Motor Traction (SMT), one of the very earliest Scottish bus companies, and later became one of the companies of the erstwhile Scottish Transport Group, a Government owned pan-Scotland operator. SOL was an operator which had depots in the Scottish Borders, the Lothians and Central Scotland, stretching to the outskirts of Glasgow at this period. Later, it was reorganised into a company based in the Lothians and Borders (Eastern Scottish) though still with its headquarters at New Street, Edinburgh. The depots in the Borders passed to Lowland Scottish after a further reorganisation, and the other depots in the west mainly passed to Alexander (Midland) (later Midland Scottish). |
