Damhead Community Association was formed to promote the well-being of the community resident in Damhead and neighbourhood by making a common effort to further health, to advance education, to provide a meeting place and facilities for physical and cultural training and recreation and social, moral and intellectual development, and to foster a community spirit for the achievement of these and other such objects. The Association was non-party in politics and non-sectarian in religion. Meetings were held in the Damhead Institute. In 1987 a Special General Meeting was held and due to lack of interest the Association was held in abeyance for one year after which the owners of Damhead Institute decided to sell the property which later became a private dwelling. The Association appears to have been wound up at this time. |
