The Landowners Co-operative Forestry Society was founded about 1910 to represent the interests of private forestry in Scotland. In 1947 it changed its name to the Co-operative Forestry Society (Scotland) Ltd. From 1959-1980 it was known as the Scottish Woodland Owners Association which had in 1967 formed a management subsidiary known as the Scottish Woodland Growers Association. In 1980 the Scottish Woodland Owners Association became Timber Growers Scotland Ltd. The activities of this organisation having extended to other parts of the UK, this is reflected in its new name - Timber Growers' Association Ltd. |
