These papers all concern the build up to the 1865 general election, at which Peter McLagan of Pumpherston was returned as MP for Linlithgowshire. The papers show how McLagan's supporters (in particular Messrs Glen and Henderson, solicitors, Linlithgow, who appear to have been his agents) canvassed potential voters for support. McLagan (1823-1900) was Linlithgowshire MP from 1865 to 1893, sitting as a Liberal and Home Ruler. |
