The Scottish Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture held its first general meeting on the 27 May 1826 and was incorporated by Royal Charter 13 August 1838. In 1889 the Royal Scottish Academy (RSA) applied for a supplementary charter. Many architects in Scotland felt architecture was receiving insufficient recognition by the RSA and therefore sought to influence the new charter. Robert Strathern Esq, WS, was asked to give aid to the architects in Edinburgh at their meeting on 29 May 1889 and was responsible for negotiations with the RSA. |
