Andrew Wilson, Fellow of the Institute of Chemistry and inventor of oscillating stabilising fins, was the eldest son of Andrew Wilson, senior, first rector of Wilson's Academy in Bannockburn. Previously headmaster at Cambusbarron School, Andrew Wilson junior was appointed chemistry teacher and later principal of the developing Science and Art School at Falkirk, 1882-1888, before becoming first science master at Stirling High School. He remained there until his resignation in 1901 to devote his time to analytical chemistry - he was public analyst for the county and burgh of Stirling and several other burghs in the area. Andrew Wilson died at Cambusbarron, aged 69, in 1911. |
